Gentoo Portage Slot Conflict

Posted : admin On 7/31/2022

Everything goes smoothly until I get the message to update portage. When I go to update, I encounter a slot conflict that arises, to my eyes, because of multiple options for pythontargets. I've tried completely removing any pythontargets from use flags in make.conf and using a specific target (37, 38, and 39), always with the same result. ebuild U sys-apps/portage-3.0.9 3.0.8 PYTHONTARGETS='python38.python37.' It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in
the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
not be installed simultaneously.
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

What shall I do to solve this dependency conflict?
Does it mean that I should use -gstreamer use flag while compiling firefox?
Will it be possible to see youtube videos in FF, if I compile it
without gstreamer?
I'm trying to understand the explanation of this but I don't quite see it. It
looks like conflicting libraries used by gimp, inkscape and openoffice.

Gentoo Portage Slot Conflict Bracket

I don't quite understand the explanation, and what my options are.

Translation appreciated.
