The poker pro and Borgata tournament regular was named as a BorgataPoker.com Ambassador shortly before the start of the 2019 Winter Poker Open and he did a great job representing the online poker site, cashing in two events before making his deep run in this Championship. The $1 Million Guaranteed 2019 Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship fielded 514 entrants and created a prize pool in excess of $1.2 million. The final table was Live Streamed on Twitch TV and Borgata’s Facebook page and the audience watched as Jackob Datashvili made the right reads and caught the cards when he needed them.

Jackob Datashvili – 1st Place – 2019 BSPO Championship

The $1 Million Guaranteed 2019 Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship fielded 514 entrants and created a prize pool in excess of $1.2 million. The final table was Live Streamed on Twitch TV and Borgata’s Facebook page and the audience watched as Jackob Datashvili made the right reads and caught the cards when he needed them. He went from next-to-last in the final table chip counts to taking home the 2019 BSPO trophy and $276,129* for 1st Place.

The series started off with a bang with the $1 Million Guaranteed $540+$60 Deep Stack Kick-Off, which saw 1,925 entrants try their luck in six starting flights over three days. At the final table, Edwin Ortiz held the chip lead when the final seven players opted to call it a day. He took 1st place, the trophy, and $105,000* in a seven-way adjusted payout.

Adam Reese took 1st Place in both the Deeper Stack and Almighty Stack NLH events.

Now another Open Series is in the books and 19 Borgata Summer Poker Open trophies have new homes. In fact, two of them went to the same home. Adam Reese etched his name in the record books when he won two main events during this series, the $260+$40 Deeper Stack NLH ($14,805) and the $400+$50 Almighty Stack NLH ($68,806*). The poker dealer from Pennsylvania may be considering a new career.

Ari Engel – 1st Place – Black Chip Bounty post-lim

After earning nine WSOP Circuit rings, Ari Engel finally won his first WSOP bracelet this summer in the $2,500 NLH event. Now just a month later, Engel has added a third Borgata title to his extensive poker resume. He won the $500+60+$100 Black Chip Bounty Deep Stack post-lim event, earning $16,881 and pushing his lifetime earnings close to $6.7 million.

John McGuinness and Eric Siegel both claimed their fourth Borgata titles during this series, joining a very short list of players who can claim that honor. All guarantees were covered and millions in prize money was paid out to hundreds of participants! A complete list of Main Event winners is below.

Make plans now to join us for the World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open, September 3rd – 20th. Until then, check out the Summer Heater, running August 12-17, and the next DeepStacks Challenge Series, running August 19-25.

This concludes our coverage of the 2019 Borgata Summer Poker Open! On behalf of the Borgata Poker family and our blog team, @Kaelaine, @TKBluffs, @AlCantHang, & @SandBarbour, Thank You!

Ryan Dodd raised to 125,000 from early position and Alex Lin called from the button. The big blind called and they went three handed to the flop.

The action checked to Lin who tossed out a bet of 80,000 and the big blind folded. Dodd check-raised to 225,000 and after giving it some thought Lin folded.

Dodd tabled his for just king high as he added another pot to his monster stack.

There were 177 poker players who went to bed happy last night, as they made it through Day 2 of the 2019 World Poker Tour (WPT) Borgata Winter Poker Open, surviving the money bubble which burst on the last hand of the night. Leading the pack is Alex Aqel with 1.260 million chips. Chase Bianchi is close behind with 1.232 million and nobody else has more than 1 million.

When registration finally closed yesterday, the tournament had demolished the record for a WPT event at the Borgata. The old record was 1,313 entries, set at the 2011 WPT Borgata Poker Open, but this one beat it by more than a hundred, coming in at 1,415 entries. There were absolutely no thoughts of an overlay, as the $3 million guaranteed prize pool was also crushed by more than 50 percent. $4,529,415 are up for grabs with, as mentioned, 177 players making at least the minimum of $6,024. Unless you are an ultra-short stack, though, you have your sights set higher. The top seven players will cash for six figures, while the winner will pocket $728,430.

Aqel, who is also listed as Ala Aqel, is obviously in great position to do more than min-cash, which could potentially juice his career tournament earnings significantly. He has about $462,000 in winnings, with his best cash coming two years ago when he won the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event at the Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for just over $200,000. The Illinois resident has one other six-figure cash, which was also made in Milwaukee in November 2016, when he won a Mid-States Poker Tour Main Event. Methinks he should frequent the Cream City more. Perhaps not right now, though, what with temperatures before wind chill currently in the double digits below zero range.

The other day, we mentioned that Phil Hellmuth pulled off an impressive feat, winning one of the preliminary events at the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open and then hopping right into a Day 1 flight of the Main Event and advancing to Day 2. This week was actually the first time the 15-time WSOP bracelet winner had cashed at the Borgata and now he has another cash to his credit, making it through the money bubble and on to Day 3 with 519,000 chips. Not a massive stack by any means, but certainly a decent amount with which to play.

The plan for Wednesday is to play down to three tables or seven levels, whichever comes first.
